With
a 20,000 mile, 300+ MPH interstate
maglev paralleling half of the interstate highway system, the U.S. can
replace most intercity road and rail travel, freeing the roads for local traffic
and the airlanes for trans-continental travel. Travel will be more comfortable
than today, like it is in Europe. At $100 million a mile, such a system
will cost about $2 trillion dollars. Built over 20 years, the investment
amounts to $100 billion a year, which matches current airline revenue.
