What
is harmful should be taxed, like pollution, and what is beneficial should not be
taxed, like wage labor. We should define rules as simple as; for
every 875 atoms of mercury you put in the air, you shall pay 1 atom of gold to
the treasury. Consumption is a cost to society, so sales should be taxed.
Property is what the state defends, so the more property you have, the more you
should pay to defend it. Inheritance should be taxed modestly to prevent
the development of a rigid aristocracy. Almost all spending should be done
at the state level. The federal budget should be reduced to a fraction of
its current size, where the people would have more control of how the tax
dollars are spent.
